Hoboken Arts and Music Festival - September 25th, 2011

Today was the Hoboken Arts and Music Festival--- a seven block sprawl of awesome independent artists, great food, and local organizations.  Despite the muggy overcast weather, it did not rain, and I had a great time checking out all of the awesome work.

One booth that really stuck out to me was the "Circa 779 Tapeistry" booth, run by artist Luke Waldrum.  He makes art using tape on paper, just like a painter would use paint on a canvas.   Check out his Facebook page and his Etsy site:

Double Monroe - Tape Art - available on Etsy

Another booth I loved was the pigdogonline.com booth run by Tara Metzler.  Maybe it's because I'm an animator (and therefore a child at heart), but I LOVED her animal paintings.  They seemed to capture a childlike quality with a grown up sense of humor--- so you can check her work out here on her Etsy page.  She has a really cool series on the Seven Deadly sins done with animals:

So, guess which print I bought?....

the bunnies--- of course :-D

Tucker and Dale vs Evil

I just saw Tucker and Dale vs Evil at the Spooky Movie Film Festival.  Wow-- so much fun!  If you like movies like Shaun of the Dead, check it out, because it is a great comedic horror movie.  Here's hoping it comes to DVD quickly after its festival run!!

But a word of warning--- the trailer kinda gives a lot of the fun stuff away, so proceed with caution :)

Spooky Movie Film Festival 2010 - Opening Night

This Thursday night was the opening night of the Spooky Movie Film Festival in Silver Spring MD.  Robot Hand's Sci-Fi short Martian Precursor opened the fest at the American Film Institute's Silver Theater.  Here's some pictures from the trip:
